I’ve been using smart thermostats for over a year now, and they’ve been a fantastic addition to my home automation setup. However, recently I noticed something peculiar that had me puzzled. Despite setting my thermostats to OFF during the warmer months, they briefly activated on October 1st and again just the other day. The room temperature was comfortable at around 22°C, so it wasn’t due to any temperature fluctuations.
Initially, I thought it might be related to a feature I had enabled earlier in the year to prevent calcification in the radiators by briefly turning them on once a month. However, I couldn’t find that setting anymore, and I was unsure why the thermostats would activate without any trigger.
After some research and reaching out to the community, I discovered that this behavior could be due to a scheduled maintenance feature or a firmware update. It turns out that some thermostats have built-in maintenance routines that activate periodically, even when set to OFF. This was a new learn for me!
To address this, I adjusted the settings to disable any automatic maintenance routines during the off-season. Now, my thermostats stay off as intended, and I can manually control them when needed. It’s a small tweak, but it makes a big difference in ensuring my system behaves as expected.
If anyone else is experiencing similar issues, I’d recommend checking for any hidden maintenance settings or reaching out to the manufacturer for specific guidance. Happy automating! ![]()
