I wanted to share an update to my original smart TV ceiling mount project.
If you haven’t read it, here is a link for your convenience:
I’ve replaced the Aqara Door & Window Sensor with the Aqara Multi-Presence Sensor P100, and the upgrade has made a big difference in flexibility and control.
With the P100 in place, I’m now automating both my outdoor TV and my Apple TV based on whether the ceiling TV mount is in the “up” position or pulled down for viewing. The automation is triggered by monitoring the mount’s open and close state, which works perfectly for this setup.
Some of my favorite features so far:
• Ability to adjust the reporting interval
• Adjustable sensitivity settings
• Flexibility in choosing exactly what you want to monitor
• A wide range of selectable detection events
In my case, I specifically wanted to monitor opening and closing. I was especially impressed with the variety of door and window types available to choose from during setup. Selecting “hinged window” most closely matched the behavior of my ceiling TV mount, and it’s been working flawlessly.
I’m sure there are many other creative use cases for this sensor that I haven’t even explored yet. This is my first time deploying the Aqara Multi-Presence Sensor P100, but it definitely won’t be my last.
If anyone is considering automating a drop-down or hinged ceiling mount, this sensor is absolutely worth a look.
