Smart Water Meter Integration and Leak Detection Automation

Hey everyone, I’ve successfully integrated my water meter into Home Assistant using a Shelly i4 and Reed sensor, following this guide. It’s been a great setup so far, but I’m now looking to take it a step further with some automation. I want to create a system that alerts me if there’s an unusually high water consumption, which could indicate a leak. For example, if the water usage exceeds 1000 liters in an hour, I’d like to receive a notification.

I’ve explored some basic automation rules in Home Assistant, but I’m not entirely sure how to accurately track and compare the water usage over specific time intervals. I know there are ways to use sensors and triggers, but I’m hoping to find a straightforward method that doesn’t require too much custom coding. Has anyone implemented something similar or has tips on how to approach this? I’d love to hear your suggestions and experiences! :potable_water::sparkles:
