Hi everyone,
I wanted to share my recent experience with the MySmartBlinds Kickstarter, which finally shipped after a year-long wait. The installation process was surprisingly straightforward, with the first blind taking just a minute to figure out, and the subsequent three retrofits each taking between 3 to 5 minutes. The Android app setup was smooth, and the sunset and sunrise-based scheduling feature worked seamlessly right out of the box.
One thing I noticed is that when controlling the blinds individually from the main app page, they don’t move in sync. However, when using the room control slider for partial opening or closing, they do sync perfectly. There are also options for wall switches and a USB device to trigger opening and closing based on TV activity, though those accessories haven’t shipped yet.
The quality of the blinds is excellent, and while they aren’t as quiet as I hoped, they’re certainly usable. I’m currently charging them overnight with the included USB cables since I opted out of the solar panel option. These use BLE devices, so I’m hopeful that if SmartThings v2 hub BLE radio integration with MySmartBlinds becomes available, I might finally make the switch to the v2 hub. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
It’s been a great experience overall, and I’m excited to see how this integration evolves. If anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing the app or integration, I’d love to hear them!
Best regards,
