SmartCam Camera Setup: Monitoring When Away

Hello everyone, I recently purchased the Samsung SmartCam HD cameras for my home, and they’ve been working great so far. However, I’ve been trying to figure out how to set them up to monitor only when I’m away, but I’m hitting a bit of a wall. Let me share my experience and see if anyone has any tips or solutions.

I love the idea of having my cameras automatically start monitoring when I leave the house, but right now, I have to manually turn them on and off as I come and go. It’s a bit of a hassle, and I end up getting alerts even when I’m just moving around the house. I was hoping there was a smarter way to handle this without having to manually toggle the cameras every time I leave or come back.

I’ve heard about using an away sensor with the SmartThings Hub, but I’m not entirely sure how that would integrate with the cameras. Would I need to purchase a Samsung Away Sensor specifically, or is there another way to trigger the cameras based on my presence? I’m also wondering if Alexa or IFTTT could help automate this process. Maybe there’s a way to link the cameras with my existing smart devices to create a seamless monitoring system.

I’ve done a bit of research online, and it seems like others have had similar questions, but I’m not finding a clear, step-by-step guide on how to set this up. If anyone has successfully configured their SmartCam cameras to monitor only when they’re away, I’d love to hear how you did it. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Looking forward to hearing from you all and learning more about the possibilities with these cameras. Let’s keep the conversation going!
