Another product request for consideration - wall clocks. I love having wall clocks with proper hands, but for some reason the MSF radio signal has become increasingly unreliable in my area. I’d also like to have an option for them to do slightly more - I kickstarted the Glance Clock back when that was an idea and it never really delivered (plus tethered to a USB cable).
When I’ve looked into options before, there are some hacks out there where people have managed to link an ESP32 to a mechanism with mostly sleep mode and infrequent re-alignment checks to minimise battery usage.
What’re the chances of Aquara doing something in this space? Smart, but unobtrusive. Minimal e-ink display for some forecasting updates perhaps (so it might not need updating more than once per day). Or even if it’s just kept to analogue hand motion + NTP then it could be sold as a retrofit module - I’ve retrofitted a MSF module into a vintage carriage clock for my mantlepiece and it’s a great mix of the old and new.
