After months of tinkering and troubleshooting, I’m thrilled to share my journey of integrating multiple smart home devices into a seamless ecosystem. 
Starting with the basics, I wanted to connect my Tuya PIR sensors to both my primary and weekend homes. The challenge was setting up Local Tuya without running into permission errors. Through trial and error, I discovered that managing projects in the Tuya developer console was key—no need for multiple projects! Just ensure your subscription is active to avoid those pesky errors. 
Next, I dove into automating my pool control system. The initial setup with time-based macros was frustrating—worked once, failed ten times. After some research, I realized the issue was with the macro execution timing. By adjusting the time blocks and using more reliable triggers, I finally got it to work consistently. Now, my pool turns on like clockwork every day! 
For those of you looking to expand your smart home on a budget, starting small is the way to go. I began with the SmartThings starter kit and gradually added Z-Wave switches. This approach not only eases the learning curve but also ensures compatibility across devices. 
One of my proudest achievements was integrating my Raffstore blinds with OpenHAB. Initially, I was stumped about detecting the devices on my network. A simple yet clever solution—using a network scanner tool—helped me identify each blind’s IP address. Now, controlling them through the OpenHAB interface is a breeze!
