Hey everyone, I just moved into a new house and decided to fully embrace smart home technology. I’ve been using SmartThings for a while now and have successfully connected about 15 devices, including plugs, cameras, and sensors. The setup process was surprisingly smooth, and everything worked like a charm for the first few weeks. However, recently I ran into a problem that’s been quite frustrating.
About two weeks ago, I purchased two additional SmartThings plugs and two cameras to expand my setup. Unfortunately, none of these new devices have been able to connect to my existing SmartThings network. Every time I try to add them, I get an error message saying the devices can’t connect to the network and should be reset. I’ve tried resetting them multiple times, but the issue persists.
I’m using a SmartThings Hub v3, and my network setup includes three Wi-Fi units. My phone is an iPhone 10 with the latest version of the SmartThings app. I’ve also checked my router settings to ensure there are no blocking issues. The existing devices are still working perfectly, so the problem doesn’t seem to be with the hub or the network itself.
I’ve spent hours searching online for solutions, but I haven’t found anything that addresses this specific issue. It’s concerning because I’m invested in the SmartThings ecosystem and don’t want to abandon it. I’ve also considered reaching out to customer support, but I’m hoping the community might have some insights or troubleshooting steps I can try.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues with newer SmartThings devices? Are there any known compatibility problems or firmware updates that I might have missed? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!
