I wanted to share a positive experience I’ve had with SmartThings and how it has transformed how I manage my home. It all started when we moved into our new house, which needed a lot of work. Being someone who loves technology, the first thing I did was set up SmartThings, install smart locks, motion sensors, thermostats, and a SkyBell doorbell. This setup has made a huge difference in how I handle contractors, deliveries, and even the move-in process.
During the renovation, contractors came and went, and I was able to give them temporary access codes. The house was set to a ‘quiet construction mode’ from 9 AM to 5 PM weekdays. SmartThings alerted me whenever there was unusual activity, like the house going quiet or doors being left open. I could lock the house remotely if needed, which gave me peace of mind.
The move-in week was especially hectic. We missed a carpet installer who rang the SkyBell. I answered from my old home, verified their identity, and unlocked the door for them. After they finished, I locked it again. Similarly, when a cabinet installer arrived, I let them in, and they remembered to lock up when they left. A delivery of tiles was handled by opening the garage door remotely and closing it after they were done. All of this was possible thanks to SmartThings.
This experience has been incredibly positive. SmartThings has made managing my home so much easier, especially during the chaos of renovations and move-in. It’s amazing how technology can simplify life. If anyone is hesitant about trying smart home devices, I’d say give it a shot—it really can make a difference!
