The recent news about SmartThings earning the ENERGY STAR certification for smart home energy management is really exciting!
It’s great to see platforms like SmartThings being recognized for their role in helping users reduce energy waste and lower utility bills. I’ve been using SmartThings for a while now, and it’s been a fantastic tool for managing energy consumption in my home.
One thing I’ve been particularly impressed with is how easy it is to set up energy-saving routines. For example, I’ve created automations that turn off lights and electronics when no one is in the room, which has made a noticeable difference in my energy bills. The integration with smart plugs has also been a game-changer for controlling devices that are often left on standby.
However, I’ve encountered a small issue with my Monoprice contact sensor on the front door. It seems the sensor isn’t sensitive enough and sometimes shows the door as closed when it’s slightly open. I’ve tried adjusting the sensitivity settings, but it hasn’t made much of a difference. Has anyone else experienced this, or do you have any tips for improving sensor accuracy?
On a more positive note, I’ve been really inspired by the DIY projects shared in this community. The recent Halloween DIY contest was a blast, and seeing everyone’s creative ideas was so much fun! I’m also excited to hear about the upcoming Govee Light Festival 2025. It sounds like an amazing event that will showcase the beauty of smart lighting in a whole new way.
If you’re working on any energy-saving hacks or smart home DIY projects, I’d love to hear about them! Let’s continue to share tips and tricks to help each other make the most out of our smart home setups. ![]()
