SmartThings Home Monitor Leak Detection Experience

I wanted to share my experience with the SmartThings Home Monitor for leak detection, as it has been a game-changer for my peace of mind. I installed it to monitor my water heater, and it has truly exceeded my expectations. :ocean:The setup was straightforward, and the integration with my existing smart home ecosystem worked seamlessly. I love how it not only detects leaks but also shuts off the water valve and the 110VAC power supply, which is essential for my gas water heater with electronic ignition. Plus, the ability to change the color of my Philips Hall Light based on the detected issue (green for water heater, blue for intrusion, red for smoke or CO) adds a visual layer of awareness that I find incredibly helpful. :rotating_light::sparkles:One instance stands out: the system detected excess water from my humidifier, shut down the water heater as designed, and notified me immediately. Dismissing the event and restoring everything to normal was a breeze. It’s moments like these that make me grateful for this level of automation and protection. :shield:However, I’ve been exploring ways to enhance the system further. For example, I’ve set up additional leak sensors under sinks and near my dishwasher, each with its own valve controller. This allows me to shut off water only to the affected area, minimizing disruption. :toilet::wrench:I’ve also created routines to handle different scenarios. If a leak is detected in the kitchen or bathroom on the main floor, both hot and cold water are shut off. But if it’s just the dishwasher, only the hot water is affected. The hall light changes color depending on where the leak occurred, which is both convenient and visually informative. :hammer_and_wrench::bulb:One area I’m still working on is finding a way to manually dismiss alerts and reverse the actions taken by the routines. While I can do this manually, an automated solution would be ideal. If anyone has tips or suggestions, I’d love to hear them! :thinking:Overall, the SmartThings Home Monitor has been a fantastic addition to my smart home setup. It combines reliability with smart automation, giving me confidence that my home is well-protected. If you’re considering similar solutions, I highly recommend exploring what SmartThings has to offer. :house_with_garden::sparkling_heart:
