Hello everyone, I’m relatively new to the SmartThings ecosystem and have been enjoying the convenience it brings to my home automation setup. However, I recently encountered an issue that I’m hoping the community can help me resolve.
Earlier this week, we rolled back our clocks for Daylight Saving Time. I noticed that my SmartThings Hub didn’t automatically adjust to the new time zone settings. Specifically, my smart lighting schedule, which was set to turn on at 5 PM, started activating an hour earlier at 4 PM. This was unexpected and a bit inconvenient, as it disrupted my daily routine.
I checked the SmartThings app to see if there was an option to manually update the time zone or adjust the hub’s settings, but I couldn’t find any straightforward way to do this. It made me wonder if the hub should automatically detect and apply time zone changes, especially during events like Daylight Saving Time adjustments.
I reached out to the customer support team, and they mentioned that the hub typically relies on the device’s location services to determine the correct time zone. However, in my case, it seems like the hub didn’t pick up the change automatically. I’m curious if others have experienced similar issues and if there are any workarounds or solutions that I might have missed.
In the meantime, I’ve been manually adjusting my lighting schedules to compensate for the time shift, but it’s not the most efficient solution. I’m hopeful that there’s a way to ensure the hub stays in sync with the correct time zone moving forward.
I’m also interested in hearing about others’ experiences with time zone adjustments and how they manage their smart home devices during such transitions. Any insights or tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance for your help and suggestions.
