SmartThings Hub Compatibility and Camera Performance

Hey everyone, I wanted to share some of my experiences and insights after setting up my SmartThings ecosystem. First, I’ve been really impressed with how seamlessly most devices integrate with the SmartThings platform. However, I’ve encountered a few quirks that I thought might be worth discussing with the community.

One of the challenges I faced was getting my Samsung SmartThings Outlet (2017 model) to pair with my C4 hub. While it works perfectly with my C5 hub, the C4 hub simply wouldn’t recognize it. I tried everything from resetting the hub, moving the outlet closer, and even checking the zigbee channel settings. It was a bit frustrating, but I’m curious if others have experienced similar issues or found a workaround.

On the topic of cameras, I’ve been really happy with my Wyze cameras. The video quality and motion detection have been reliable, but I did notice that the newer V4 models don’t record video clips like the older ones did. Instead, they just capture still images, which is a bit disappointing. I understand that this might be a cost-saving measure, but I’d love to hear if anyone has found a way to enable video recording on the V4 models.

Another area I’ve been exploring is automating my home using Google Home and Homey. I’ve managed to set up routines that adjust my home’s status based on my location, which has been incredibly handy. For example, when I leave home, certain lights turn off, and when I return, they turn back on. It’s a small thing, but it really adds to the convenience of living in a smart home.

Lastly, I wanted to touch on the importance of community support. I’ve had a few bumps along the way, but the helpfulness of this forum has been invaluable. Whether it’s troubleshooting device pairing or sharing tips on optimizing camera performance, the collective knowledge here is amazing.

To anyone just starting out, my advice is to take it one step at a time. Don’t get discouraged by the occasional hiccup—most issues have solutions, and there’s always someone willing to help. Happy automating! :rocket:
