I’ve been using SmartThings to automate my home security, and it’s been working pretty smoothly overall. However, there’s one issue that’s been bugging me, and I’m hoping the community can shed some light on it.
I have an August Lock Gen4 connected to my SmartThings setup. The idea is that when I arrive home, SmartThings should recognize my proximity via GPS and automatically unlock the door. Sounds simple enough, right? But here’s where things get a bit wonky.
Sometimes, the lock unlocks perfectly as I pull into the driveway. Other times, it feels like it’s ignoring me completely, even though I’m standing right in front of the door. I’ve tried tweaking the GPS radius to give it more time, but that just seems to make it unlock randomly hours later, which is equally frustrating.
I’ve also noticed that if I manually unlock the door through the SmartThings app, it works without any issues. So, the connection itself isn’t the problem. It’s just this automated unlocking feature that’s acting up.
I’m curious if anyone else has experienced similar issues or if there’s a workaround I haven’t discovered yet. Maybe there’s a setting I’m missing or a different approach to integrating SmartThings with the August Lock. Any tips or insights would be greatly appreciated!
Let’s keep the conversation positive and focused on finding a solution. Thanks in advance for your help!
