SmartThings Integration with Homey: Progress and Community Feedback

SmartThings Integration with Homey: Progress and Community Feedback

Hello everyone, I’m thrilled to share some exciting progress with you all! I’ve been working on an App to integrate SmartThings devices with Homey, and it’s been a fascinating journey so far. My goal is to create a seamless bridge that allows Homey users to control their SmartThings devices effortlessly.

Current Progress

I’ve managed to establish a solid connection with the SmartThings API, enabling real-time status updates every 6 seconds. This means devices like my Samsung TV, washing machine, and even my Danalock Z-Wave lock are fully controllable through Homey. It’s been incredible to see how this integration can enhance the functionality of both platforms.

One of the standout features is the ability to use my phone as a presence sensor via SmartThings. This adds a whole new layer of smart home automation that I hadn’t anticipated. The app also supports a wide range of devices, including Fibaro smoke detectors and SmartThings sockets, which track power consumption in real-time.

Challenges and Future Plans

While the core functionality is in place, there’s still work to be done. I’m currently focusing on improving the user experience and ensuring compatibility with Homey Cloud. To achieve this, I’ve avoided creating a dedicated settings page, keeping things simple for now.

I’d love to hear from the community! Whether you have suggestions, questions, or would like to support the development, your feedback is invaluable. Let me know how I can make this integration even better for everyone.
