I’ve recently found myself in a bit of a pickle with my SmartThings setup. After purchasing some new Philips Hue lights and motion sensors, I discovered that adding them to my system isn’t as straightforward as I hoped. The process, as recommended by SmartThings, involves deleting all existing Hue devices and reconnecting them. This means losing connections for 42 lights and 3 motion sensors, which are integral to my home’s automation setup. It’s quite exhausting to have to reconfigure everything manually, especially when I only want to add one or two devices at a time.
My question is, shouldn’t SmartThings automatically detect new Hue devices without requiring such a drastic reset? If not, are there any better methods or workarounds to avoid losing all these connections? I’m really hoping the community has some insights or alternative solutions to make this process less cumbersome.
