Hey everyone, I’ve been tinkering with my SmartThings Multi Sensor to monitor my garage door. Initially, I was using the magnetic sensor, which worked perfectly for detecting open/closed states. However, I wanted to switch to using the tilt sensor for better integration within the SmartThings ecosystem.
After some trial and error, here’s what I learned: When categorizing the sensor as a ‘garage door,’ it defaults to using the tilt sensor. However, I noticed that notifications for open/closed states stopped working. I realized that the tilt sensor alone wasn’t triggering the notifications I needed.
To resolve this, I reverted to the magnetic sensor setup, which reliably sends notifications to my Evolve LFM-20 when the door is left open too long. While I couldn’t get the tilt sensor notifications working as intended, the magnetic sensor setup proved to be the most reliable solution for my needs.
