Last night, as I was preparing for bed, SmartThings sent me an alert about moisture detected in my basement. I have an Everspring moisture sensor installed near my sump pump, and it had detected that water levels were rising. Thanks to SmartThings, I was notified before it turned into a disaster!
Upon checking, I discovered that my sump pump had stopped working, and water had risen to just a couple inches below the top of the sump pit. Without SmartThings alerting me, I would have woken up to a flooded basement the next morning. Instead, I was able to take immediate action, temporarily fix the pump, and replace it first thing in the morning.
This experience really highlighted the value of having a reliable smart home system like SmartThings. It’s not just about convenience—it’s about peace of mind and protection for your home. I’m incredibly grateful for the role SmartThings played in preventing what could have been a costly and stressful situation.
