Solar System Optimization & Custom Thermostat Setup Tips

Hey everyone, I wanted to share some experiences and tips from my recent home automation projects. First, I’ve been working on optimizing my DIY solar PV system with Soyosource inverters. I’ve noticed some voltage spikes when the inverters start up, especially in the early morning. Has anyone found a good way to smooth these out? I’ve been using an ESP8266 setup with some custom code from GitHub, but I’m still looking for that perfect solution.

On another note, I’ve been diving into customizing my thermostat setup. I recently upgraded to the Centralite Pearl Thermostats and have been tweaking the Device Type Handler (DTH) to better suit my needs. The new SmartThings app has some quirks, especially with temperature scaling, but I’ve managed to get most features working smoothly. One thing I’m still working on is improving the power source reporting. If anyone has tips on that, I’d love to hear them!

I’d also love to hear from others who’ve integrated multiple brands of smart home devices. How do you ensure everything works seamlessly together? Any favorite tools or techniques for troubleshooting compatibility issues?

Lastly, I’m curious about everyone’s experiences with energy monitoring and optimization. I’ve been experimenting with different sensors and dashboards to track my energy usage more effectively. If you have any recommendations or setups you love, please share!

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and learning from your experiences!
