Solving Aqara Door Sensor Bounce Issues: My Experience and Tips

I recently added some Aqara Door/Window sensors to my windows, and I’ve been using these on a few doors without any issues. However, I noticed that the window state was sometimes incorrect. I also noticed that I would get a lot of “bounce,” i.e., when opening or closing the window, I would get three updates: opened, closed, opened all at the same time. This was quite frustrating as it made the system less reliable. After some research and trial and error, I tracked this down to the sensor orientation. I originally had the sensor installed vertically on the side of the window, so that the magnet would slide past the sensor. However, this setup caused the bounce issue. After moving the magnet and sensor so that they were horizontal, the problems went away, and I now only get one update when opening or closing the window. Here’s what I learned:- Sensor Orientation Matters: Installing the sensor horizontally instead of vertically eliminated the bounce.- Test Different Configurations: If you’re experiencing issues, try adjusting the sensor’s position or orientation.- Patience is Key: It might take some time to find the right setup, but it’s worth it for a reliable system.I’d love to hear if others have encountered similar issues or have additional tips for ensuring smooth sensor operation. Let’s share our experiences and help each other out!
