Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with my Wyze cameras and how I managed to resolve an issue where they weren’t recording videos properly. I hope this helps someone else out there!
The Problem
A few days ago, I noticed that my Wyze cameras were detecting motion but not recording any clips. It was frustrating because I rely on them for monitoring my home. I checked the app, and it showed that motion was detected, but no video clips were saved. I tried different settings and even did a factory reset, but nothing worked initially.
What I Did
-
Checked the Storage: I realized that the microSD card in my camera was almost full. Wyze cameras use local storage for recordings, so if the card is full, they can’t save new clips. I emptied some space, and it helped a bit, but the problem wasn’t completely solved.
-
Updated the Firmware: I went to the Wyze app and checked for firmware updates. There was an update available, so I installed it. After the update, the camera started working better, but the issue still occurred occasionally.
-
Reset Network Settings: I reset the camera’s network settings through the app. This involved unlinking the camera and re-adding it to my network. It took some time, but after this step, the camera started recording consistently.
-
Checked for Interference: I also read somewhere that Wi-Fi interference can cause issues. I moved the camera to a different spot to minimize interference, and that seemed to help too.
The Solution
After trying all these steps, the most effective solution was resetting the network settings and ensuring there was enough storage space. I also learned to keep an eye on the storage to prevent similar issues in the future.
Tips for Others
- Regularly check the storage on your cameras.
- Keep your camera firmware updated.
- Test different locations to avoid Wi-Fi interference.
I hope this helps anyone struggling with similar issues. It was a bit of a hassle, but it’s great to have my cameras working properly again! ![]()
