Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience and solution to a problem I encountered while using multiple iOS devices with the HA app. I hope this helps others who might be facing a similar issue!
I’ve been using both an iPhone and an iPad, both logged in as the same user, “myUsername”. While my iPhone is with me when I’m out, my iPad stays at home. The issue I noticed was that my iPad was responsible for my “at_home” status even when I was at work. This was causing some confusion in my automations and scenes!
I did some research and discovered that this happens because both devices are logged in as the same user, so the system is treating them as the same entity. After some trial and error, I found that the best solution was to exclude my iPad from changing my user’s state. This way, my iPhone remains the primary device for my location updates, and my iPad doesn’t interfere.
If you’re facing a similar issue, here’s what I recommend:
- Log in to both devices with the same user account.
- On the device you want to exclude (in my case, the iPad), go to the settings and adjust the location services or state reporting options.
- Test the setup to ensure it works as expected.
This solution worked perfectly for me, and I haven’t had any issues since! It’s great to have both devices integrated without conflicts. I’d love to hear if others have similar experiences or other solutions they’ve found effective.
