I wanted to share my experience with integrating multiple smart devices to maintain peace in my household. After moving into a new home, my wife and daughter often ran into each other in the hallway bathroom, leading to some awkward moments. To address this, I decided to use my motion sensors and smart lights to create a simple yet effective system.
Initially, I set up a rule where if the bathroom door was closed, the hallway light would flash, indicating someone was inside. This worked well, but I encountered an issue when the hallway motion and light app would override the flashing rule during certain times of the day. The light would stay on or turn off after two minutes, disrupting the intended behavior.
After some research and trial and error, I discovered that adjusting the rule’s priority and timing settings resolved the conflict. Now, the hallway light flashes consistently until the bathroom door opens, providing clear communication without interruptions. This setup has significantly reduced the chances of unexpected encounters, making our mornings and evenings much smoother.
I’d love to hear if others have similar experiences or tips for integrating motion sensors with lighting systems. It’s been a great learning process, and I’m excited to explore more smart home solutions to enhance our daily routines!
