Solving the Mystery of Random Camera Disconnects

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my journey in troubleshooting a frustrating issue with my Wyze OG camera. For months, I noticed that the camera would randomly disconnect with the error code 20003. It was perplexing because the camera would work fine one moment and then suddenly go offline. I tried all the standard troubleshooting steps—restarting the app, unplugging and replugging the camera, checking the firmware, and even resetting the device. Nothing seemed to work consistently.

What really threw me off was that the issue wasn’t isolated to one device. I had the same problem on both my Android 10 and Android 14 devices. It didn’t matter if I was on my home WiFi or using mobile data; the camera would randomly disconnect. I even reached out to Wyze support, but the response wasn’t very helpful.

After weeks of frustration, I stumbled upon a solution that finally made a difference. I discovered that force-closing the Wyze app and restarting it seemed to resolve the issue temporarily. While this wasn’t a permanent fix, it gave me some peace of mind knowing there was at least a workaround.

I decided to dig deeper and found a community thread where someone mentioned that the issue might be related to how the app handles background processes. Inspired by this, I tried clearing the app’s cache and data. Surprisingly, this seemed to help! The camera stayed connected for several days without any issues.

Of course, this isn’t a long-term solution, but it’s a step in the right direction. I’m hopeful that Wyze will address this bug in a future update. In the meantime, I’ll continue experimenting with different settings and configurations to see if I can find a more permanent fix.

If anyone else is experiencing similar issues, I’d love to hear your thoughts or any solutions you might have found. Let’s keep the conversation going and hopefully, we can all find a resolution together!
