Solving the Wyze Camera Night Vision Puzzle

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with my Wyze outdoor camera’s night vision. It had been acting up, with very limited visibility at night, which was pretty frustrating since my indoor camera worked perfectly. I tried the usual troubleshooting steps—restarting, unplugging, checking for updates—but nothing seemed to help. The camera would barely capture anything beyond a foot, and the image was pitch black otherwise.

After some research, I came across a post suggesting that the IR cut filter might be stuck. I decided to give it a gentle tap, and to my surprise, the night vision kicked in! However, during the day, the camera started showing a strange pinkish hue, which indicated that the filter was now stuck in the open position.

Determined to fix it, I carefully took the camera apart (I know, voiding the warranty—definitely not recommended, but it was worth a shot for me). Inside, I found that the IR filter assembly had a small pigtail that wasn’t plugged in. Once I connected it properly, everything went back to normal! The night vision worked like a charm, and the daylight view was crystal clear again.

This experience taught me two things: always double-check the basics before diving into more complex solutions, and if you do decide to take a device apart, make sure you know what you’re doing to avoid causing more damage. It’s also a good reminder to keep those warranties intact unless you’re absolutely sure about what you’re doing.

I’d love to hear if anyone else has had similar issues or has tips for maintaining their cameras. Happy troubleshooting! :rocket:
