Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the ‘zone inactive for x minutes’ feature on Homey. It’s been a reliable tool for me, but I recently encountered a frustrating issue where the system would trigger even when motion was detected, leaving me in the dark. I thought I was the only one until I stumbled upon others facing the same problem.
The Problem: After setting up multiple Philips Hue motion sensors and using the Home Assistant Community app, I noticed that the ‘zone inactive’ feature wasn’t working as expected. It would sometimes trigger even when I was in the room, which was both inconvenient and a bit spooky!
The Solution: After some research and experimentation, I found a simple yet effective workaround. By adding an additional ‘Zone Active’ card right after the ‘Zone Inactive’ trigger, I ensured that the system would check for motion again before executing the next action. This small tweak has been a game-changer for me, and I haven’t been left in the dark since!
Why It Works: I believe the issue was related to how the system handles triggers and processes data. By introducing this extra check, it spreads out the triggers and prevents the system from getting overwhelmed. It’s a clever fix that doesn’t require any advanced setup.
A Tip for Others: If you’re experiencing similar issues, especially with multiple motion sensors, try adding this extra check. It might seem like an unnecessary step, but it could save you from unexpected darkness and frustration.
I’m grateful to the community for sharing their experiences and solutions. It’s amazing how a simple idea can make such a big difference. If anyone else has tips or tricks for improving automation reliability, I’d love to hear about them!
