Solving the Zooz ZSE18 Battery Notification Issue

Hello everyone! I hope you’re all having a great day. I wanted to share a little issue I encountered with my Zooz ZSE18 motion sensor and how I managed to resolve it. I thought it might be helpful for others who are experiencing similar problems.

So, as some of you might know, I recently switched from a battery-powered motion sensor to the Zooz ZSE18 USB-powered version. The idea was to eliminate the hassle of replacing batteries every few months. However, I noticed something odd shortly after setting it up. Every few days, I’d get a notification on my phone saying the sensor’s battery was at 1%. That was pretty confusing because I knew the sensor was plugged into USB and shouldn’t be relying on a battery at all!

I did a bit of research and reached out to some forums, but it seemed like I was the only one experiencing this issue. I started by checking the sensor’s settings in the SmartThings app to see if there was a way to disable the battery notifications. Unfortunately, there wasn’t an option for that. I even tried unplugging the sensor and plugging it back in, but the notifications kept coming.

After some trial and error, I stumbled upon a solution. I discovered that the SmartThings app allows you to customize notifications for specific devices. I went into the settings for the ZSE18 and found an option to turn off low battery alerts. It wasn’t immediately obvious, but once I found it, the problem was solved!

I wanted to share this in case anyone else is dealing with the same frustration. It’s a small tweak, but it makes a big difference in reducing unnecessary alerts. I’m really happy with how the ZSE18 is performing now, and I don’t have to worry about those pesky battery notifications anymore.

If anyone has any other questions or issues with their Zooz devices, feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to help if I can!

Cheers, [Your Name]
