Solving Zigbee Device Re-Add Issue: A User's Journey

Hey everyone, I hope this post finds you well! I wanted to share my recent experience with a recurring issue I’ve been facing with my Zigbee devices, specifically my Aqara temperature sensors. I’ve noticed that whenever these devices run out of battery for an extended period, they disconnect from my Homey setup. The frustrating part is that I have to manually remove and re-add them each time, which also means losing all the valuable temperature statistics I’ve been tracking. It’s been a bit of a hurdle, but I’m determined to figure this out!

After some research and trial and error, I discovered that this issue might be related to how Zigbee devices handle long periods of inactivity. I started by checking if there were any firmware updates available for my sensors, but unfortunately, they were already up to date. Next, I looked into the Homey app to see if there were any settings or configurations I could tweak to prevent this from happening. I found that adjusting the Zigbee network settings slightly helped, but it didn’t resolve the core problem.

One thing I did find helpful was enabling a feature in Homey that automatically re-pairs devices upon detecting their return. While this doesn’t prevent the need to re-add them, it does streamline the process a bit. I also reached out to the Aqara support team, and they mentioned that this behavior is somewhat normal for battery-powered Zigbee devices, especially after extended periods of inactivity. However, they assured me that newer firmware versions are addressing this issue, so I’m hopeful that future updates will make this a thing of the past.

In the meantime, I’ve been keeping a closer eye on my sensor batteries to ensure they’re replaced before they drain completely. This proactive approach has significantly reduced the frequency of the issue. I’m also exploring the possibility of using backup power sources or more durable batteries to further mitigate the problem.

I wanted to share my journey in case anyone else is dealing with a similar frustration. It’s been a learning experience, and I’m grateful for the community here who have offered advice and support. If anyone has additional tips or solutions, I’d love to hear them! Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other overcome these little hurdles that come with smart home setups. Cheers! :star2:
