Sonos Speaker Connection Issues and Solutions

Hey everyone, I’ve been having a bit of trouble with my new Sonos SYMFONISK Gen 2 speaker. It’s been a frustrating experience, but I want to share what I’ve learned in case it helps someone else.

So, I purchased the speaker from IKEA and set it up using the Sonos app on my Android phone. The setup seemed to go smoothly—DHCP connection, LAN mode, everything looked good. I even tested the network connection by pinging the device, and it responded. The Windows app also recognized it without any issues. But here’s where things got tricky: when I tried to play music through HomeAssistant, it kept trying to use an external dynamic IP address, which didn’t make much sense.

I spent hours checking logs and configurations, and it turned out the issue was with how HomeAssistant was addressing the speaker. It was trying to route through an external IP instead of using the local network. After some research, I realized that adjusting the HomeAssistant configuration to force a local IP connection solved the problem.

This experience taught me the importance of checking network configurations and understanding how different systems communicate. If you’re facing similar issues, I’d recommend verifying your device’s network settings and ensuring that any third-party integrations are correctly configured to use local addresses.

It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster, but I’m glad I figured it out! Now, my speaker is working perfectly, and I can enjoy my music without any hiccups. If anyone else is struggling with similar problems, feel free to reach out—I’d be happy to help!
