Sonos Speakers Notification Setup and Tricks

Hey everyone! I recently set up my Sonos speakers and wanted to share some tips on getting notifications to work properly. At first, I noticed that notifications weren’t playing on my left and right paired Sonos speakers. After some digging, I realized I needed to select both speakers under either Speech Devices or Music Devices in my rules. Once I did that, notifications started working perfectly! It’s a small tweak but makes a big difference in how my smart home interacts with me.

I also wanted to mention something about the TCP/UDP binding I’ve been experimenting with. It’s been great for controlling my lights via IP addresses, but there was a learning curve with mapping commands. For example, I had to figure out how to send specific commands for dimming. It took some trial and error, but now it’s working seamlessly!

If anyone else is having trouble with their devices not showing up or not responding, I highly recommend checking the configuration files and ensuring all the right ports and protocols are set up. Sometimes it’s the little details that make or break the setup.

Overall, I’m really happy with how my system is coming together. It’s been a great learning experience, and I can’t wait to share more tips and tricks as I continue to explore the world of smart home automation!
