Hey everyone!
I’ve been diving into creating a space-themed smart lighting setup in my home, and I wanted to share my journey and some tips with you all. ![]()
First off, I decided to go with Sylvania Lightify Strip lights for their versatility and vibrant colors. They’re perfect for creating those cosmic vibes!
I’ve installed them in my living room, wrapping around the ceiling to mimic the night sky. The effect is absolutely stunning! ![]()
I’ve integrated these lights with my Hubitat ecosystem, allowing me to control them through voice commands and even automate them based on my daily schedule. For instance, during the evenings, the lights shift to a warm, amber glow to create a cozy atmosphere, and during the day, they brighten up to mimic natural sunlight. ![]()
One thing I wanted to mention is the Google Home integration. Initially, I was a bit puzzled because Google Home only showed white shades for my Lightify Strip. After some research, I realized I needed to use the Generic Zigbee RGBW light profile in Hubitat. Now, I can easily change the colors from my phone or through voice commands! ![]()

I also wanted to share a handy tip for anyone dealing with too many motion sensor notifications. I found that adjusting the sensitivity settings in the Hubitat app made a world of difference. Now, I only get notifications when there’s significant movement, which is perfect for my hallway. ![]()
