Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience and some tips regarding setting up Spotify profiles with Alexa for my teenagers. I’ve been trying to figure out how to make this work seamlessly, and I thought it might be helpful to others facing similar challenges.
First, I have two teenagers, each with their own Spotify accounts. The goal was to allow them to play their favorite music without affecting my main Spotify account. I created separate profiles for each of them in the Alexa app, thinking this would solve the problem. However, no matter what I did, Alexa kept defaulting to my Spotify account instead of theirs. This was frustrating because it meant their playlists and settings weren’t being respected.
I tried creating individual Amazon accounts for them, but that led to a new issue. They were no longer part of our shared Alexa household, and their devices showed up as separate entities. This meant they couldn’t access our shared smart home devices or routines. It was a bit of a dead end.
After some research and trial and error, I found a workaround. Instead of using separate Amazon accounts, I kept them under the main household but made sure their Spotify accounts were properly linked to their respective Alexa profiles. This required a bit of tweaking in the Alexa app settings, but it worked!
Here’s what I learned:
- Ensure each profile in the Alexa app is correctly linked to the respective Spotify account.
- Double-check that the Spotify app on each device is signed in under the correct user.
- If issues persist, try logging out and back in to both Alexa and Spotify to refresh the connection.
This setup now allows each teenager to use their own Spotify accounts with Alexa without interfering with the household setup. It’s a small victory, but it makes a big difference in our daily routine!
