Recently, I embarked on a journey to automate my bathroom fan and light system, aiming to simplify daily routines and enhance comfort. The challenge was to integrate a motion sensor and a smart switch to create a seamless experience. After some research and experimentation, I discovered a solution that not only met my needs but also exceeded expectations.
Initially, I faced the dilemma of how to synchronize the motion sensor with the fan and light. The goal was to ensure the light turns on when motion is detected, remains on for a few minutes, and then shuts off automatically. Additionally, I wanted the fan to run for an extended period when the switch is activated, such as during a shower.
Through trial and error, I configured the system to trigger the light upon motion detection, allowing it to stay on for a brief period. This feature is particularly convenient, eliminating the need to manually turn the light on or off. For the fan, I set it to run for 15 minutes when the switch is activated, ensuring proper ventilation without constant supervision.
One concern was whether the motion sensor would override the manual switch settings. Fortunately, the system integrates smoothly, with the motion sensor taking precedence to ensure optimal functionality. This setup not only improves convenience but also contributes to energy efficiency by preventing the fan from running unnecessarily.
The satisfaction of achieving this automation is immense. It not only elevates the daily bathroom experience but also aligns with the broader goal of creating a smart, efficient home environment. This project reinforces the potential of smart home technology to enhance our living spaces in subtle yet meaningful ways.
