Hi everyone,
I wanted to share my recent success with creating a custom integration for the HifiRose RA180 amplifiers in Home Assistant. While it was a bit of a challenge, it was also a really rewarding experience!
For those who might not know, the HifiRose RA180 is a fantastic amplifier with a lot of great features, but unfortunately, it doesn’t have official support in Home Assistant. After some research, I decided to take matters into my own hands and write a custom component to control it.
The process involved a bit of reverse engineering since the API documentation wasn’t publicly available. I had to experiment with different commands and responses to figure out how the amplifier communicates. It was a bit time-consuming, but I finally got it working!
The integration now allows me to control the amplifier’s volume, mute functionality, and even switch between different input sources directly from Home Assistant. It’s been a huge improvement for my home theater setup!
I’m really happy with how it turned out, and I’m excited to get some feedback from others who might be using the same amplifier. If anyone is interested in trying it out or contributing to the project, I’d be more than happy to share the code and provide guidance.
You can find the integration on GitHub here. Feel free to leave any questions or suggestions in the comments below!
Looking forward to hearing from you all!
Best regards,
Daniel
