Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent success in setting up an automation for my smart lights. I’ve been using Novostella bulbs and virtual switches for a while now, but getting the automations to work consistently was a bit of a challenge. ![]()
Initially, I tried setting up the automations through both the SmartApp and SmartThings menu. The goal was to have the lights turn on when my phone detected I was near the house. Through the SmartApp, none of the lights would activate, which was pretty frustrating. But through the automations menu, two out of three bulbs would turn on, though not consistently. Connectivity wasn’t the issue since all devices were in the same room as the hub and router. ![]()
After some research and trial and error, I figured out that the delay in the virtual switches was causing the inconsistency. I adjusted the trigger timing and made sure the automations were set to account for the slight delay. Now, the lights turn on seamlessly when I arrive home! ![]()
This experience taught me the importance of understanding delays in smart devices and how tweaking automation settings can make a world of difference. If anyone else is struggling with similar issues, I’d be happy to help troubleshoot! ![]()
