Hi everyone, I wanted to share a project I recently completed that has been a huge help around the house. I set up an automation to remind me when it’s time to change the HVAC filter. I know this might seem simple, but it’s been a game-changer for me!
I used a Wyze door sensor to detect when the filter cover is opened. Whenever someone opens the cover to change the filter, it triggers an automation that starts a 90-day countdown. After 90 days, I get a notification reminding me to check the filter again.
The project was inspired by a GitHub repository I found, and I have to say, the community support has been amazing. I’m still pretty new to this, so figuring everything out was a bit of a challenge, but with some research and trial and error, it all came together.
I’d love to hear if anyone else has implemented something similar or has tips for improving this setup. It’s been such a relief not to worry about forgetting to change the filter, and I hope others find this useful too!
