I recently upgraded my lighting setup by replacing my Linear WD500Z-1 dimmer with a Cooper RF9540. My goal was to achieve seamless integration with my Ecosmart Candelabra bulbs, which have been performing exceptionally well at my front entrance. While the Linear dimmer worked perfectly without any flickering issues, I noticed some unexpected behavior with the Cooper dimmer that I wanted to share and seek advice on.
Initially, I observed that the LED bulbs flickered even when the dimmer was set to 100%. Interestingly, both bulbs flickered synchronously, which was quite noticeable. After some experimentation, I found that lowering the maximum setting to around 90% eliminated the flicker. At the minimum setting, which I adjusted slightly higher than where the bulbs were stable, there was no flicker. Additionally, during the ramping process (when turning the lights on or off), there was a slight hitch where the bulbs momentarily brightened before continuing the dimming process.
I’m curious if others have experienced similar behavior with the Cooper RF9540 dimmer and if there are any solutions or workarounds to achieve a smoother operation. While the Linear dimmer didn’t have these issues, I’m hopeful that with some adjustments, the Cooper dimmer can perform just as well. If anyone has insights or tips, I’d greatly appreciate hearing about your experiences!
Overall, I’m optimistic about the potential of the Cooper RF9540 to enhance my lighting setup once these minor quirks are ironed out. It’s been a fascinating learning process, and I look forward to refining the integration further.
