Successful Integration of Devolo Smart Plugs with OpenHAB

After some time working with OpenHAB and Z-Wave devices, I wanted to share my positive experience with integrating Devolo MT2792 Home Control Metering Plugs. Initially, I faced some challenges with device recognition, but after updating the Z-Wave binding and carefully following the configuration steps, everything started working smoothly.

Here’s a quick overview of my setup:

  • OpenHAB Version: 2.1.0 on a Raspberry Pi
  • Z-Wave Binding: Updated to the latest snapshot version
  • Devices: Two Devolo MT2792 plugs used as repeaters alongside Fibaro roller shutters

The plugs now provide detailed metering data, and I’ve successfully linked them to various channels in OpenHAB. The integration has allowed me to automate lighting and monitor energy usage effectively.

For anyone looking to integrate similar devices, I recommend:

  1. Ensuring all bindings are up-to-date
  2. Carefully following the device pairing process
  3. Testing each channel to confirm functionality

It’s been a rewarding experience seeing how these devices enhance my smart home setup. Happy automating! :rocket:
