Successful Setup of Washer Usage Tracking with Habitat Hub

Hi everyone! I wanted to share my recent success in setting up a system to track how often my washing machine is used. I know it might sound a bit simple, but it was actually quite a challenge, and I think others might find this helpful too!

So, here’s the deal: I have a Habitat Elevation Smart Hub, and I wanted to keep track of how often the washing machine gets used. I have a Zooz Wave Plus power switch controlling it, and while I could see the energy usage in the Habitat app, I wanted a more straightforward way to log when it turned on and off.

After some research and a bit of trial and error, I finally got it working! Now, every time the washing machine starts or stops, it logs the time, and I can easily check how many times it was used over a week or two. It’s super handy, especially since I share the house with others, and I want to make sure everything is being used fairly.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what I did:

  • Set Up the Sensor: I used the Zooz Wave Plus to monitor the power usage of the washing machine.
  • Configure the Rules: I created a simple rule in the Habitat app to log the start and stop times.
  • Check the Logs: Now, I can easily review the usage history without sifting through endless notifications.

If anyone else is looking to do something similar, here are a few tips:

  • Keep It Simple: Don’t overcomplicate the setup. Start with basic rules and build from there.
  • Test Regularly: Make sure to test your setup to ensure everything is logging correctly.
  • Use the Right Tools: The Zooz Wave Plus was perfect for this, but there are other smart switches that could work too.

I’m really happy with how this turned out, and I hope it helps someone else out there! Let me know if you have any questions or if you’ve tried something similar yourselves.
