Successful Smart Lighting Setup with Multi-Brand Integration

I’ve recently completed a smart lighting setup that I’m really excited about, and I wanted to share my experience with the community! :star2:

My Setup Journey
I decided to go with a mix of brands to get the best features and prices. I’ve been using Govee for their vibrant RGB strips and the H6144 model, which truly shines with colors like white and green. For my bathroom, I opted for Bose Soundtouch devices, which integrate seamlessly and offer a modern touch. I also incorporated some Fibaro motion sensors and Aeon multisensors for energy efficiency and security.

The Process
Starting with the basics, I connected all devices through Zigbee2MQTT and set up a Mosquito Broker to manage the communication. It was a bit tricky getting everything on the same channel, but once sorted, the system runs like clockwork. I used Hubitat as my hub, which has been reliable and user-friendly.

Challenges and Solutions
One challenge was ensuring all devices communicated smoothly. I found that grouping devices in Zigbee2MQTT made a huge difference in reducing delays. For instance, controlling multiple lamps through a group command was much more efficient than individual commands. I also faced an issue where battery levels weren’t updating correctly after replacing batteries. After some research, I discovered that excluding and re-including the devices resolved the problem.

Tips for Others

  • Start Small: Begin with a few devices to get comfortable with the setup.
  • Grouping Devices: This can significantly improve performance and reduce delays.
  • Regular Maintenance: Check battery levels and device connections periodically to avoid issues.

Final Thoughts
This project has been incredibly rewarding. It’s amazing how integrating different brands can create a cohesive and functional smart home ecosystem. I’m now looking into adding more features like automated lighting schedules and energy monitoring.

Has anyone else successfully integrated multiple brands in their setup? I’d love to hear your experiences and tips! :rocket:
