Hi all, I recently upgraded my VeraLite to VeraPlus and wanted to share my experience and some tips I’ve picked up along the way. First, the upgrade process was straightforward, and the increased processing power is noticeable, especially with multiple devices connected.
One challenge I faced was setting up scenes. Initially, I struggled with getting them to work as intended, but after some trial and error, I found that grouping devices by functionality rather than location made a big difference. For example, grouping all downstairs lights together allows me to control them with a single voice command through Alexa.
I also discovered that using the ping plugin for geofencing was a great workaround. It’s been helpful for automating modes based on my phone’s network presence. For instance, when I arrive home, the kitchen lights turn on if it’s getting dark, which is a nice touch.
