Successfully Configuring Device Lock on Shelly 1PM

Hey everyone! I wanted to share my experience with configuring the device lock feature on my Shelly 1PM. I’ve been using these devices for a while now, and I’ve always appreciated their reliability. However, I recently came across a situation where I needed to ensure that certain devices couldn’t be accidentally turned off while in use. This is especially important for appliances like my washing machine or dryer, which I don’t want to shut off mid-cycle by mistake.

After some research, I discovered the device lock feature on the Shelly 1PM. It seemed like the perfect solution! I set it up so that once the device is locked, it can’t be turned off unless I manually unlock it. This has given me peace of mind knowing that my devices will stay on until I decide otherwise.

However, I did notice something interesting. If I accessed the locked device through the consumption panel, I could still toggle it on or off without unlocking it. At first, I thought it might be a bug, but after reaching out to the community, I learned that this behavior is intentional and serves as a failsafe. It’s a good reminder to always double-check settings to ensure everything is working as expected.

I’d love to hear from others who have used the device lock feature. How have you implemented it in your smart home setup? Have you encountered any unique scenarios or solutions? Sharing experiences like these really helps the community grow and learn together!

Thanks for reading, and happy automating!
