Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with configuring iOS Shortcuts to control multiple Shelly 2.5 roller blinds simultaneously. I’ve been trying to set this up for a while and finally got it working, so I thought I’d walk through my journey in case anyone else is tackling a similar project.
Initially, I was a bit overwhelmed. I knew I wanted to automate my blinds, but getting multiple devices to work together seemed tricky. I started by exploring the Shelly app and its integration with iOS Shortcuts. After some research, I realized that using the Shelly API within Shortcuts was the way to go. I tried a few different approaches, including using multiple device IDs separated by symbols like &, /, and _, but nothing worked at first. It was frustrating, but I kept pushing forward.
After some trial and error, I stumbled upon a solution. I discovered that by creating a custom HTTP request within the Shortcuts app, I could send commands to both Shelly devices simultaneously. The key was to structure the request correctly, ensuring both device IDs were included in the payload. Once I got that right, it was like magic! I could control both roller blinds with a single tap on my phone.
This setup has completely transformed my morning routine. Now, as soon as I wake up, I can open both blinds with just one shortcut. It’s such a small thing, but it makes a big difference in how I start my day. I’m also planning to integrate this with my smart speaker so I can voice-control the blinds as well.
If anyone else is looking to do something similar, I’d recommend starting with the basics of the Shelly API and gradually building up your shortcuts. Don’t be afraid to experiment and tweak your setup until it works perfectly for you. It’s a fantastic feeling to see all your devices working seamlessly together!
