Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent success in configuring KNX switches for shutter control in my smart home setup. Initially, I was using Comfort Click, but I decided to switch to Home Assistant (HA) for more flexibility. Everything in my house is KNX-based, which is great, but I didn’t have the ETS file, so I had to manually find all the addresses for the lights. That part worked out smoothly, but the shutters were a bit of a puzzle.
At first, I tried defining the shutters as lights, which allowed me to use the “brightness” feature to set them to specific positions. However, this approach lacked a “stop” action, which was essential for precise control. After weeks of research and trial and error, I finally figured out how to configure the shutters using covers. It was a bit tricky, but the result is fantastic!
Now, I can control my shutters with basic functions like open, close, stop, and set position. I didn’t need any advanced automation like sun or weather tracking, just the essentials. This setup has completely transformed my home automation experience, and I’m thrilled with how it all came together.
If anyone else is struggling with similar issues, I’d be happy to share more details or tips. It’s a great feeling to overcome these challenges and see everything working seamlessly. Happy automating! ![]()
