Successfully Configuring RGBWW Lights for Disco Mode

Hey everyone! I wanted to share my experience with setting up an RGBWW lightbulb using Zigbee2MQTT and OpenHAB. Initially, I was a bit puzzled about how to control the color temperature alongside the RGB settings. After some research and experimentation, I managed to create a disco-themed office that’s both functional and fun!

Here’s what I did:

  1. Discovery and Setup: I started by pairing the Sengled Smart LED bulb with my Zigbee2MQTT setup. The bulb advertised its capabilities, and I let OpenHAB auto-discover it. The inbox showed three channels: brightness, color, and color temperature.

  2. Item Configuration: I created items for each channel. The brightness control was straightforward, but the color and color temperature required a bit more thought. I used a color picker for RGB control and a slider for color temperature to adjust the warmth of the light.

  3. Scene Automation: To really make it disco, I set up a scene in OpenHAB that cycles through different RGB colors and temperature settings. This involved creating a rule that changes the color and temperature at intervals, creating a dynamic lighting effect.

  4. Tips and Tricks: If you’re looking to do something similar, I recommend experimenting with different color transitions and temperature settings. Also, ensure your Zigbee network is stable to avoid any flickering or lag in the lights.

It’s amazing how a single bulb can transform a space. My office now feels like a mini nightclub, which is great for brainstorming sessions! If anyone has tips on optimizing the color transitions or adding sound effects, I’d love to hear them. Happy automating! :rocket:
