Successfully Connected My Wyze Switch to VeraEdge

After struggling with getting my Wyze switch to work with VeraEdge, I finally found a solution! Initially, I was worried because the switch wasn’t listed in VeraEdge’s supported devices. But with some research and experimentation, I managed to get it connected. Here’s how I did it:

  1. Understanding the Issue: The Wyze switch wasn’t showing up in VeraEdge’s device list. I knew I had to find a workaround since it wasn’t officially supported.

  2. Research and Setup: I discovered that using a third-party app like Home Assistant could bridge the gap. I installed Home Assistant on my Raspberry Pi and configured it to communicate with both VeraEdge and the Wyze switch.

  3. Integration Steps:

    • I added the Wyze switch to Home Assistant using their integration.
    • Then, I set up VeraEdge within Home Assistant to recognize the switch as a smart device.
    • This created a seamless connection, allowing me to control the Wyze switch through VeraEdge.
  4. Testing and Success: After setting everything up, I tested the switch to ensure it was working. It responded perfectly to commands from VeraEdge!

This experience taught me the importance of exploring alternative solutions when dealing with unsupported devices. It also highlighted how powerful integrations like Home Assistant can be in expanding the capabilities of your smart home setup. If anyone else is struggling with similar issues, I highly recommend checking out Home Assistant as a potential solution.
