Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with connecting my Schlage lever and some thoughts on the new UI update. I’ve had this lever for a while but never connected it to anything. There was a code to connect, but I didn’t see the option in the iOS app to add a device with a code—it just scans for them. My initial question was, how do I connect it? After some research and reaching out to the community, I found a solution! Turns out, you need to manually enter the code in the settings menu, which wasn’t immediately obvious. Once connected, it worked like a charm!
Now, moving on to the new UI update. I’ve been able to add my kitchen dimmer, and it actually works—makes me happy! But both it and the dining room dimmer have red gears. I’ve tried the “Configure node right now” option, which seemed to help with some issues before, but it doesn’t seem to do much here. I’m assuming the green gear is for a node that’s configured and ready to go, but there are icons of various colors that seem to come and go. They might denote a command that’s been sent, but some odd things happen. For example, when switching off a switch, it looks like a switch icon shows up, then a rotating power button. Does the color of the icons matter? I’ve seen blue, green, and red. It’s a bit confusing, but I’m hopeful it’ll make sense with time.
The UI update also introduced some new features I’m excited about, like the ability to group multiple commands before execution. This would be super helpful when deleting multiple devices—it takes ages otherwise! I’d love to see more responsive design elements and maybe a slider for dimmers instead of the large increments we have now. The dashboard could also use a more efficient layout. Right now, it takes up a whole page to show three different rooms, each with one device. A simple/advanced toggle option would be great!
Overall, I’m happy with the progress and appreciate the community’s support in troubleshooting these new features. If anyone has tips on configuring those red gears or understanding the icon colors, I’d love to hear them! Thanks for reading, and happy smart home tinkering!
