Successfully Flashing Sonoff Devices with Tasmota

After moving houses, I encountered an issue with my Sonoff devices where they kept trying to connect to my old network. I tried reflashing them with Tasmota and ESPeasy, but it wasn’t working as expected. Here’s how I resolved it:

  1. Resetting the Device: First, I reset the Sonoff device to factory settings. This ensures that any old configurations are cleared.

  2. Using the Latest Firmware: I downloaded the latest Tasmota firmware from the official GitHub repository. It’s crucial to use the most recent version to avoid compatibility issues.

  3. Flashing Process: I used the Tasmota Flasher tool on my computer. The process was straightforward—connect the device via USB, select the appropriate port, and flash the firmware.

  4. Configuration: After flashing, I connected the device to my new network using the Tasmota web interface. I configured it to my preferences, ensuring it was set up correctly for my new environment.

  5. Testing: I tested the device to ensure it was working as expected. It now connects seamlessly to my new network without any issues.

Tips for Others:

  • Always reset devices to factory settings before reflashing.
  • Use the latest firmware versions to benefit from the latest features and bug fixes.
  • If you encounter issues, check your network settings and ensure there are no conflicts with existing devices.
