Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent success in figuring out how to group my Sonos players for a seamless party mode! ![]()
I’ve been using Sonos for a while now, but I always struggled with getting both zones to play the same alert sound when someone approaches the house. After some research and trial and error, I found a solution that works perfectly!
Here’s what I did:
- Identify the Players: First, I made sure I knew which zones I wanted to include. In my case, it’s the front porch and the backyard.
- Grouping: I used the Sonos app to group both zones together. This was the key step because it allows both zones to play simultaneously.
- Set Up the Scene: I created a scene in my automation system that triggers the grouped zones. This way, whenever the motion sensor detects someone, both zones play the alert.
- Restore Playback: After the alert plays, I have a script that automatically restores each zone to its previous state. This ensures that the music doesn’t stop or get disrupted.
This setup has been a game-changer for me! No more missing alerts because one zone wasn’t playing. Plus, it’s great for parties when I want music in multiple areas without the hassle of switching zones.
If anyone has questions or wants to share their own solutions, I’d love to hear them! Let’s keep the ideas flowing! ![]()
