I’ve been on a quest to enhance my home security setup, and I’m thrilled to share my success with integrating Hikvision cameras into my Hubitat ecosystem! 
For those who might be curious, Hikvision offers some fantastic person detection capabilities through their API, which I knew could be a game-changer for my security rules. After some research, I stumbled upon the ST community discussions and decided to give it a shot. Here’s how it went down:

Initial Setup: I started by installing the necessary drivers and ensuring my cameras were properly connected to my network. The Hikvision API integration wasn’t too bad once I found the right resources.

Automation Magic: The real fun began when I started setting up automations. Using Hubitat’s rule machine, I created scenarios where the cameras would trigger alerts based on detected motion. It’s been a huge help in keeping an eye on things while I’m away.

Person Detection: One of the standout features has been the person detection. It’s incredibly accurate, and I’ve already had a few instances where it alerted me to unexpected visitors, which was both spooky and reassuring!

Tips for Others: If you’re considering this setup, I’d recommend starting with one camera to get the hang of it. Also, make sure your network is stable, as any hiccups can affect the integration.
I’m now looking into expanding this setup with more cameras and possibly integrating it with my existing smart locks for an even smarter security system.
